Using Trongate Desktop app with Win 10 Home on a laptop, I'm getting - Error: SCRIPT FAILED TO EXECUTE, THIS NORMALLY MEANS AN ERROR WAS THROWN. CHECK THE RENDERER CONSOLE FOR THE ERROR.
---
Note: I'm not having any problem with Trongate on my Desktop PC (Win 10 Pro)

Can you give a bit more info on when the error occurs.
What did you try to do when you recieved the error?

Thanks so much for the quick reply, djnordeen -- and sorry I wasn't more specific.
The error occurs when I choose a folder (doesn't matter which folder), after clicking [MODIFY EXISTING APP]

I tried deleting %APPDATA%/Trongate

I don't know what's causing that. The error text is not something that I wrote so it must be something internal.

At the point when you select a directory, there's a moment when the Desktop App checks to see if it's a Trongate app. I wonder if it's something to do with that.

My strategy for exploring this would be to:

* restart the computer (bet you knew I'd say that!)

* create a new Trongate app

* reset (or restart) the Desktop app

* attempt to select the app that you had just created

The outcome from the above might potentially give some kind of indication as to what to do next.

good suggestion DC. I have seen that error message before, and think it was to do with a corrupt or malformed json parse.

I've just given help to a Windows user who had a challenge with a "query.conn" error.

We found out how to solve it!

Turns out there was 2 instances of the Trongate Desktop App running at the same time.

Perhaps that's the reason why this error showed up. In which case, my suggestions above are good.

I created a new app and was able to get back into it to modify it.

But I still get the same, "Error: SCRIPT FAILED TO EXECUTE..." when I attempt to modify my old apps.

I'm not sure how to try to resolve DaFa's suggestion of the malformed json.

Don't worry about the malformed json, that was more for the internals of the Desktop app.

So a newly created app works when you modify it?

You say it gives you an error when you try to modify an old app, at what stage? the screen shows you a version change?

Thanks for the help.

After I close out of my newly created web-app and then restart the Desktop App and try and open an old, saved web-app I get the same "Error: SCRIPT FAILED TO EXECUTE, THIS NORMALLY..."

I was able to get back into the newly created web-app and ad a module. After adding the module, I could add get back into the new web-app, but all of my old apps seem to be inaccessible.

I did NOT notice a new version (Desktop App ver. 1.0.004).

Thanks again.
---------------------
Later I experimented with deleting/renaming the old web-app folder.
I then cloned/downloaded the git repository into a new folder and got the same error -- apparently the Desktop App doesn't like something in the folder.
But note: My Windows Desktop PC (NOT the laptop) can use the Trongate Desktop App on this repository/folder with no problem. Both are Windows machines but the laptop has the Home addition.

The (Windows) laptop also has problems running the Trongate Desktop App with (seemingly) all my old repositories/folders
