Hi everyone, nice to meet you. I was wondering if there was a real-time discussion hub for trongate somewhere I could connect to. Been pouring over the Learning Zone videos for the past few days, and loving it.

Hi ya and welcome aboard. Yeah, we used to have a Discord but that faded - here is an invite https://discord.gg/nEcekrkRPF but is rather silent there at the moment. Be my guest to liven it up. Same with Telegram. I still have the Speed Coding Academy forum running, which still gets posts from members. But that's a closed forum for SCA members only. DC isn't into forums that much and stays away mostly.

How are you going with Trongate? Are you new to it? Post here if you need some help.

Cheers

Hi thanks, your videos are great! I completed all the beginners level paths, and then watched a vanilla PHP tutorial because I want to understand it at the "bare metal". I really like how you try to keep things as simple as possible, not just try to make it easy for people who don't really want to learn (like most frameworks and languages' approach). I got all the modules working in the beginners paths like I said, but got a bug where it was outputting every database query at the top of the page and I can't figure out why it is doing that. I imagine it must be something to do with the trongate config files but I couldn't see anything about that in the database.php config or any of the other configs. So just little things like that. I was also curious as to why some components break (I guess just over time, due to updates to chrome?) like for example I never got the confirmation email when trying to sign up for this website. What I really like about this, as there will always be problems to work out, but it seems like every problem can be solved by understanding it, not just by copying and pasting some stupid block of code I find on stack exchange which I don't understand (this is how I am pretty sure most react developers solve their problems - they have no idea what is actually happening). So yeah, make PHP great again! :)

Hi again,
Yes, David's videos are great, well-presented and very easy to understand. As you will have noticed, David has removed the need for third-party library dependencies throughout Trongate and brought back pure PHP and JavaScript. Where most of the other frameworks are doing the complete opposite.

The model outputting your SQL is a setting in 'Model.php' which you will find in the engine folder. Change it back to this
private $debug = false;
and you will be fine.
As for your remark on 'components break'. I'm not sure what you are referring to with 'I never got the confirmation email when trying to sign up for this website'. I assume you mean the registration form on Trongate.io to become a member.
Please also close out this thread if you feel your question(s) have been answered.

Cheers,
Simon

Thanks Simon. I remember we switched the debug mode and had a feeling that might be it. Dumb question but how do I toggle resolved/open on here?
