Introducing the New Trongate Login Module

This page gets you logged in right now. There are only three things you need to know.

1. What Are My Login Credentials?

If you installed Trongate using the setup wizard, you already created an administrator account. You were asked for:

  • A username (for example, "admin")
  • An email address
  • A password

Those are your login credentials. Use them to log in.

If you did not use the setup wizard, or if you cannot remember what you entered, you can check the trongate_administrators table in your database to see what username and email were saved. The password cannot be recovered (it is scrambled for security), but you can create a new admin account by inserting a row into trongate_administrators with a bcrypt-hashed password.

2. What URL Do I Go To?

Open your browser and go to:

http://yoursite.com/tg-admin

Replace yoursite.com with your actual website address (for example, http://localhost/myproject/tg-admin if you are working locally).

You will see a login form. Enter your username (or email) and password, then click Sign In.

After a successful login, you will be taken to the admin panel.

3. What If I Forgot My Credentials?

If you have forgotten your password, you have two options:

  • Check your database. Look in the trongate_administrators table to remind yourself of your username or email. Your password is scrambled and cannot be read, but you can create a new password, if required.

For guidance on how to create a new password, please refer to Password Recovery.

That Is It

You are now logged in. The login module handles everything else automatically - remembering you while you browse, logging you out when you click "log out", and blocking people who try too many wrong passwords.

The rest of this chapter explains how the login system works and how to set up additional user levels (like members or customers).

We're continually improving the Trongate documentation. If anything is incorrect, unclear, incomplete, or could be better, we'd genuinely appreciate your input.
