Have you ever thought about putting out a YouTube tutorial?

If it's something you'd be willing to consider I'd be happy to give you as much help as you need.

You never know ...it could change your life!

Add password_handler child module submitted.

Yes, the plan is to launch my YouTube channel in July. I’d really appreciate some 1-on-1 feedback from you on the plan.

Thank you.

I've had a look at your pull request. The idea is cool, but I think the code has become a little more complicated than it needs to be. My feeling is that you may be overthinking it slightly.

Now, let me make you a proposal.

I've checked in with Balázs, and both of us are of the opinion that we'd like you to create a tutorial for the Trongate YouTube channel. We think it would be healthy for the framework overall.

Doing YouTube tutorials was probably the single best decision I ever made in my web development career. Even though the web development space is a bit quiet at the moment, there's really no such thing as a bad tutorial.

MY OFFER:

I'd be happy to meet with you on a Google Hangout to go over your pull request together, in person.

Between us, we'll figure out the best way to make this thing work.

After that, I'd be glad to help you put together some kind of tutorial that would be meaningful for you and useful for other people. To be clear, it'll be your tutorial, in your voice. You are your own man. I doubt you'll need much help with the code itself, but if we collaborate on this then at least we'll all be generally aligned as far as the codebase is concerned.

I personally guarantee that you will not regret this.

So, I'm offering to work with you on something genuinely cool.

Email me at david dot webguy at gmail dot com and let's make this happen.

Great initiative! I really hope you get on board with this, Jim. I'm sure you would put together an amazing tutorial. If there's anything you need assistance with, just let me know!

Thanks guys! Offer accepted and email sent.

Great. Email sent.

Good to see Dafa and Balazs doing celebrity cameo appearances here.

If we're going to make a dent with this framework then we have to work as a team. All of you have important roles to play here. We need everybody to pull together. Frankly, we need an army of rock star developers.

If anybody else fancies getting involved - either by doing a tutorial or writing content or whatever - then you too are welcome. Get in touch. I'm looking at you, Dan, Perkin, koolmees, sasin91 and others.

Hail Jim. Hail Team Trongate!

Thank you for the invitation DC. But because I have until now not been able to contribute anything (meaningful), I will stick to hitting the Like button every now and then.

Self depreciation does not exist in this dojo.

Just to give you all an update.

I met with Jim on Google Hangouts last night. It’s all a bit mind-blowing to me because, just like Balazs, it turns out Jim has been building some really impressive commercial web assets using Trongate.

There’s no need to go into the exact nature of what he’s working on. Nevertheless, it’s a great morale booster to see people actually using this framework for real commercial projects - projects that are already live and helping to put food on the table. I love it!

Anyway, we had a chat about various coding topics and how he might be able to use Trongate MX for a login system. The particular app he’s working on is quite advanced (it works across multiple domains), and we agreed it might be a bit too complex for a YouTube tutorial.

So my attitude towards all of this is simply to give people the freedom to do whatever they want. That was my approach with Balazs, and it worked very well. I’m not interested in telling people what to do. Instead, I just want to positively encourage involvement. Trongate is yours!

As far as I can tell, Jim will be putting together a video on his workflow - with a focus on how he uses AI with Trongate. We didn’t set a concrete deadline, but I’m going to take a wild guess that it’ll be ready in about a week.

Look - as a framework, Trongate is one of the most exciting projects in PHP right now. I really believe that. There’s a lot happening, and a whole load of interesting things coming down the line.

But from a marketing perspective, it’s still tumbleweeds. The only way we can fix that is by going all in on community. Some of you are naturally wired for public presentation - Balazs is in that category, and so is Jim. Others are happier just building cool stuff behind the scenes. And of course, some of you can do both. Wherever you sit, I want you to get involved. Don’t even wait for an invitation! Just reach out to myself, Balazs, or Dafa and let us know you’d like to contribute.

Within the next few months, I’m going to be approaching some major YouTube influencers in an attempt to get them talking about this framework. The only way they’ll get on board if they can see a genuine, enthusiastic community around it.

So thank you, Jim. Thank you everyone. This framework needs you. The time is now - get involved.

And Balazs… since Jim is doing a workflow video, I’d be happy to let you handle the formal launch and demo of the new code generator, if you’d like it. We really value your videos and want you to keep going. Special thanks to you for supporting this endeavour to get people involved with our framework.

Of course, DC! I'll gladly showcase the new code generator. 🙂 It's an awesome new feature that everybody has to know about!
