HOW LEADERBOARD POINTS ARE CALCULATED
THE GOLDEN RULE: Q&A FORUMS ONLY
Leaderboard points are ONLY awarded for activity in Q&A Forums. Regular discussion forums do NOT contribute to your point total. So, if you like this comment then I'm grateful but I will NOT get any points for any likes here, in this particular forum.
HOW POINTS WORK
Points are awarded yearly (1 Jan - 31 Dec) and reset each New Year. Only activity in the current year counts.
1. LIKES ON YOUR ANSWERS
- 1 point for each "like" your answer receives
- Example: 5 likes = 5 points
2. ANSWERING QUESTIONS
- 3 points for each helpful answer you provide
- Must answer someone else's question (not your own)
- Example: Solving 3 problems = 9 points
3. FIRST TO ANSWER BONUS
- 5 bonus points for being the first person to answer a question
- Example: First to answer 2 questions = 10 points
4. BEST SOLUTION AWARD
- 20 points when your answer is marked as the "winning answer"
- This is our highest reward for excellent solutions
- Example: Your answer marked as best = 20 points
WHAT DOES NOT EARN POINTS
- Posts in regular discussion forums (only Q&A forums count)
- Liking your own posts (blocked by system)
- Answering your own questions
- Posts from previous years
- Unpublished or deleted posts
HOW TO IDENTIFY Q&A FORUMS
Q&A forums are the ones in the 'Technical Support' category.
STRATEGY TIPS
1. Focus on Q&A Forums - only these earn points
2. Provide quality answers - helpful answers get more likes
3. Be timely - first answers earn bonus points
4. Engage with community - helpful users receive more likes
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why don't my likes in discussion forums count?
A: The leaderboard rewards problem-solving in Q&A areas only.
Q: If I post on 31 Dec and get a like on 2 Jan, do I get points?
A: No. Points are based on when your post was created, not when likes happen.
Q: What if someone "un-likes" my post?
A: Points are calculated in real-time, so your total will decrease if a like is removed.

AND FINALLY
There will be a prize for the person with the highest points at the end of each year. Simon (Dafa) was our winner for 2025 and if you're reading, Simon, I'll be in touch shortly to make arrangements. I'll post a YouTube video shortly to formally recognise and celebrate last year's winner.
