About Our Leaderboard
The Trongate discussion forums feature a leaderboard. It is largely a bit of fun, but it also exists to encourage positive participation and reward those who contribute the most.
Each year, the member with the highest number of points receives a prize.
For the past two years, Dafa has claimed the top spot.
SPECIAL NOTICE: If Trongate becomes a top three PHP framework, based on GitHub stars, on or before 1st Jan 2027 (totally possible!) then the top five scorers on the leaderboard will each win $1,000.
How the Points System Works
The leaderboard tracks activity within the Q&A forums only. Regular discussion forums do not count. The Q&A forums are:
- The Trongate v1 Forum
- The Trongate v2 Forum
- The Trongate MX Forum
Here is how the leaderboard scoring system works:
Likes received - 1 point each
When another user likes one of your posts, you earn 1 point. You cannot like your own posts, and you can only like any given post once.
Responding to a question - 3 points per thread
If you reply to someone else's thread, you earn 3 points for contributing to that thread. Multiple replies within the same thread do not earn additional points. Replying to your own thread does not count.
Being first to respond - 5 points per thread
If you are the very first person, other than the thread author, to reply to a question, you receive 5 points instead of the standard 3 points for that thread.
Having your answer declared the winner - 20 points each
When a thread author marks your reply as the accepted or winning answer, you earn 20 points. This is the largest single reward and reflects the value of genuinely solving someone's problem.
A few additional points are worth noting
Posting repeatedly within the same thread does not increase your score. The leaderboard rewards helpful participation across different questions, not volume within a single discussion.
The thread author may undo a winning answer declaration if they change their mind, in which case the 20 points are removed automatically. The leaderboard is recalculated dynamically to ensure it always reflects the current state of the forum.
