I am trying to use the desktop option to update an existing project but it doesn't update any of my projects and I can't figure out why?
I would expect the license files to change to the latest version number as well as the engine folder contents to reflect the latest set of files but nothing changes?
I did also check and allow use access to the project folders on my machine for all users and that didn't help either!
Obviously I am missing something or doing something wrong but I cannot figure out what that is, does anyone have any ideas that might help please?
I know that I can simply replace the files manually directly from Github but I was trying to use the functionality offered by the Trongate Desktop App option of Modify Existing Project.

I think DC said he'd disabled updating from the desktop app whilst he's still working on Trongate v2

Hi,

Codemonkey is right (thanks!).

I have stopped the desktop app from doing updates. The reason why is because - within the last few months - the framework has undergone some pretty dramatic improvements.

Don't worry. I'm not interested in adding lots of stuff and making things more complicated. On the contrary, I'm only interested in stripping things away and making things even more simple.

Trongate v1 is about the same size as the Great Gatsby - a small novel. My goal is to reduce the size of Trongate until it's about one third the size of the Great Gatsby.

The benefits of doing this will be a 30% speed improvement plus massive levels of AI compatibility that other frameworks cannot possibly have. Imagine - for example - being able to teach an AI bot about the entire framework without using hardly any tokens (AI enthusiasts would understand).

So, everything that's happening right now is all about making everything faster and more simple. If we can do this then we can build some amazing and mind-blowing things that I'm currently not in a position to discuss.

Of course, because there's so much work happening, there's a chance that your code could break if I continue to keep the auto-updating thing on. I don't want that to happen. I don't want to break your code.

So, I figured it was best to just switch off the automatic updating for now.

Don't worry. Your code should be fine. If you are determined to get updated, I recommend going to the GitHub repo and downloading the Trongate repo from GitHub. Then, manually swap the 'engine' directory (replacing your current engine directory with the one from GitHub).

Any problems, just ask.
